Highlights of the trip included visiting a women's association that farms a small plot of land on the banks of a river in Western Senegal and helping them build a fence to protect their crops from invasive animals; visiting a community to see the devastating impact mining has had and what people are doing now to cope; and visiting Goree Island, home to one of the region's most famous slave castles.
